Caterpillar snacks for kids are easy for teachers to make to go with caterpillar lessons. Kids will enjoy the caterpillar themed healthy snacks and dessert treats.

Primary school teachers can make caterpillar snacks for their class as part of a caterpillar and butterfly unit. Teachers can bring in healthy snacks for the students to reinforce the day’s lesson or make a caterpillar dessert as part of a bug themed classroom caterpillar celebration.

How to Make Healthy Caterpillar Bug Snacks for Kids

Caterpillar Fruit and Cheese Kabobs for Kids

  • Place grapes, melon balls and cheese cubes on an uncooked spaghetti strand to make a caterpillar kabob snack.

Blueberry and Celery Caterpillar Snacks for Kids

  • Slice celery sticks in half lengthwise and use peanut butter or cream cheese to attach berries to it. Turn the celery stick on its side for a berry caterpillar snack.

Grape and Pretzel Stick Caterpillar Bug Snacks

  • To make a grape caterpillar snack slice grapes in half and stick them onto thin pretzel sticks.

  • Create a caterpillar cake for elementary kids by baking your favorite cake mix in oven-safe bowls. Frost each caterpillar section and press them together to form the caterpillar snack. Use pipe cleaner and googly eyes to decorate the caterpillar cake and then serve it to the class.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar Snack for Kids

After reading the story The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle [Philomel Books, 1987] primary school teachers can make a Hungry Caterpillar Snack Bar for students. After discussing all of the food the hungry caterpillar eats in the story the teacher explains to the students that they are going to get a chance to taste all of the caterpillar treats.

The elementary teacher cuts up bite size pieces of all the food the caterpillar eats in the story and displays it on a large table. The class reviews plot of The Very Hungry Caterpillar by looking at the food they are going to try. The teacher passes out the caterpillar snacks and the kids try small servings of each.
